In a concerted effort to streamline the issuance of driving licenses and under the proactive initiatives of Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi, approximately 11.5 million new driving licenses have been issued to applicants within a short timeframe.
During his visit to the ‘Police Khidmat Markaz’ at Liberty, the Chief Minister inspected the online test conduction process. He promptly directed the replacement of broken tiles and commended the facilities available at the center. Advising unsuccessful applicants to make another attempt with thorough preparation, he interacted with citizens to gain insights into their experiences.
Applicants expressed appreciation for the system and the supportive conduct of the staff at the center. They lauded the efficient process without undue delays. The Inspector General of Police (IG) and the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore were also present during the inspection.
In another engagement, Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi addressed 34 under-training Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) from the 50th common training program at the Pakistan Police Academy. He underscored the imperative to abandon outdated policing approaches and embrace modern policing for enhanced public service. The Chief Minister emphasized that successful police officers exhibit good conduct towards citizens and employ effective policing strategies, making their duties more manageable. He emphasized that a positive reputation is built through improved interactions with the public and effective policing, with an equal focus on both aspects.
Encouraging police and administrative officers to address citizens’ issues, the Chief Minister urged young police officers to engage in positive interactions, displaying good behavior and dedication to problem-solving. He stressed the importance of handling situations that cannot be resolved strictly according to the law with patience and empathy. The Chief Minister praised the exemplary efforts of the District Police Officer (DPO) in DG Khan, who won public acclaim through open kutchery sessions, illustrating the positive impact a police officer can have on the community.
Discussing ongoing departmental reforms, Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi highlighted the promotion of over 20,000 policemen in the past 11 months and the promotions of more than 40,000 officers and employees in various departments. He announced plans to upgrade 737 police stations, with 36 stations already completed.
