According to The News, 51% of Pakistanis favor holding polls for the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assemblies alongside the National Assembly in October, while 34% oppose it.
Furthermore, most Pakistanis viewed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s move to dissolve the Punjab and KP assemblies as incorrect.
The findings were disclosed in a poll done by the Institute for Public Opinion Research from April 1 to 19, 2023, in which over 1,200 Pakistanis from around the country participated.
In response to a survey question concerning having provincial elections with the National Assembly, 51% agreed, 34% disagreed, and 15% did not respond.
Furthermore, 35% of respondents said Khan made a mistake by dissolving the Punjab and KP assemblies, while 28% thought the PTI should have remained in the assemblies.
In contrast, 16% thought Khan’s decision to dissolve assemblies was correct. However, 21% did not respond to the question.
An overwhelming majority of 77% of respondents suggested that the political leadership and key institutions work together to enhance the political climate. However, 13% were opposed to the notion, while 10% preferred not to respond.
In response to the survey question on who is to blame for the country’s uncontrollable inflation, 49% of respondents blamed the existing PDM government, 32% blamed Khan’s government, and 19% did not respond.
