Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, the Interior Minister, announced a variety of initiatives to improve Islamabad’s security system, including the deployment of the Eagle Squad and Tourist Police, as well as the introduction of the Rescue 1122 Service.
The minister told a press conference that a “Smart Car Vigilance” system will be implemented in the capital, with 25 smart cars equipped with current equipment and containing all required data being purchased.
He said the Tourist Police, which will have 240 members, will be stationed at 24 locations throughout Islamabad, including the Faisal Mosque and the road to Murree.
The Eagle Squad, he said, will be founded with 200 motorcycles, 100 of which will be new, and will be launched by the prime. Emergency Services 1122 would also be launched with 25 cars, according to Mr Rasheed, who also stated that the project has been tasked to the Inspector General of Police Islamabad, and that it will be launched in a month.
