Heavy rain continues to pour in Lahore and other parts of Punjab, which flooded several roads and spelled huge trouble for vendors in Lahore’s marketplaces. The traders and the buyers in many markets in Lahore are compelled to conduct economic activities in accumulated rainwater such as in the case of the vegetable market in Multan Chungi road.
Several market areas of Lahore including, Gulberg, Walton Road, Dharampura, Ghaziabad and other areas are swamped.
In response to widespread public outrage, the managing director of the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) has issued a statement, in attempts to placate, that all disposal stations of the city are functional and the rainwater is being drained out with the help of heavy machinery. He expressed hoped that the water drain out the operation will be completed within time.
