Twitter has started to tag automated accounts (or bot accounts) with specific tags. While the feature is still under testing and is only available to a restricted number of people.
“Bots that assist you discover immunization records and early warning systems for natural catastrophes are examples of automated accounts you could encounter on Twitter. If these accounts inform you that they are automated, you will have a greater understanding of their nature while engaging with them, ” the firm stated.
As previously stated, the new functionality will aid in distinguishing “good” bots from spam. A matching box will appear on automated accounts, which will be shown on the profile page and in tweets from that account. According to Twitter officials, authors of bot accounts will be allowed to benefit from the innovation until the end of the year.
According to recent research by cybersecurity firm Barracuda, bots account for over two-thirds (64%) of internet traffic, with malware accounting for 40%.
