On Wednesday night, it appears that two of Pakistan’s top musical names came together for a jam session! Strings’ co-frontman Bilal Maqsood and singer Asim Azhar chilled and jammed together, sharing footage of their unplanned musical moments with followers on Instagram.
We haven’t seen much of Maqsood playing music since Strings announced their split, so when a video of him singing comes our way, we devour it like the hungry fans we are. Azhar and Maqsood appear to have collaborated on a unique project. They’ve certainly piqued our interest in what it may be.
“He came for work but was nice enough to amuse all of us,” Maqsood said on Instagram about Azhar. He posted a video of himself and Azhar performing Strings’ famous song ‘Soniye.’ In another video posted by Maqsood, Azhar sang Shuja Haider’s ‘Nawazishein Karam.’
Azhar also shared Maqsood’s video with his followers via Instagram Stories. “I had no idea Bilal Maqsood disliked singing in front of his family at home,” he wrote. “But I asked him to perform one of my favorite Strings songs, which he did and I did as well! Thank you for always being so great, Bilal Bhai!”
Azhar had posted a video of his own, which was later removed by Instagram owing to copyright violations.
Many followers, including Maqsood’s String’s colleagues, bassist Bradley Dsouza and drummer Ahad Nayani, lavished praise on the videos.
Other fans were also ecstatic with the jam sessions.
Azhar just completed eight years in the music business with popular tracks such as ‘Jo Tu Na Mila.’ If his spontaneous jam sessions with Maqsood are this amazing, and our suspicions about their collaborative project are correct, we’re in for some awesome music.
