Shaheen Shah Afridi, Pakistan’s left-arm fast bowler, has made an immediate impact on the international stage. The fast pacer is one of the best bowlers in the world, with a stellar record in all three forms.
The 21-year-old has been rewarded for his outstanding efforts by being given the legendary number 10 shirt. Shaheen will carry on the tradition of Shahid Afridi, the former renowned all-rounder who made the jersey number famous.
Shaheen’s new jersey number was unveiled during a behind-the-scenes look at the introduction of Pakistan’s new ODI gear. The footage was shared on different social media platforms by the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) official account.
Interestingly, Shaheen Afridi is scheduled to marry Shahid Afridi, thus the number ten appears to be staying in the family.
Shaheen, often known as The Eagle, is one of the most intriguing young players in global cricket right now. Shaheen has been nothing short of spectacular since making his international debut three years ago. He is presently rated eighth in the ICC Test rankings and was recently named player of the series in the Test series against the West Indies.
In all three forms, the left-arm bowler has already taken 76 Test wickets, 53 ODI wickets, and 32 T20I wickets at outstanding averages. He will play in the ODI series between Pakistan and New Zealand, which begins on Friday at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
