At the United Nations, Pakistan has called for implementation of UN resolutions which grant the Kashmiri people their right to self-determination.
Addressing the United Nations General Assembly’s third Committee in New York, Pakistan’s permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Munir Akram urged the world community to impress upon India to stop human rights violations in illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
He said proclamations of respecting human rights remain hypocritical if blatant violations of these rights in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir are not addressed by the international community.
Speaking about racism and hatred, the ambassador said Islamophobia is a pernicious manifestation of racism and hate which must be collectively combated.
He drew attention to the proposal of Prime Minister Imran Khan to the UN Secretary-General to convene a global dialogue on countering Islamophobia and OIC’s call to designate an international day to combat Islamophobia.
