Islamabad High Court (IHC) dismissed the petition that was filed by Jazz & Telenor companies against Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) for fixing the price of license renewal case.
Jazz and Telenor licenses were due for renewal since August 21, 2019 at the prices of around $450 million or approx Pkr 72 billion each. Jazz and Telenor had filed a petition against PTA decision on fixing the fees of license renewing. Previously IHC said to pay the half fee until the full decision and also issued a stay order for PTA to not take any action against Jazz and Telenor, so that services of operators may continue.
The third operator, CM Pak, had to pay $470 million for their license renewal.
PTA fixed the fee for license renewal of the mobile operators at $39.5 million per MHz for frequency spectrum of 900 MHz and $29.5 million per MHz for frequency spectrum of 1800 MHz.
