Mark Zuckerberg the CEO of Facebook, the widely known social platform, announced the new name of the company at the Connect event. The new name announced is ‘Meta’ replacing the current name ‘Facebook’. However, it also confirmed that the applications and platforms Facebook created or owns will not be renamed.
“Together, we can finally put people at the center of our technology. And together, we can unlock a massively bigger creator economy.” Zuckerberg said. Furthermore, he announced that “To reflect who we are and what we hope to build,” he added. He said the name Facebook doesn’t fully encompass everything the company does now and is still closely linked to one product. “But over time, I hope we are seen as a metaverse company.”
The rebranding of the company is done to encompass the vision of Mark rather than being known as a social media company. Meta will engage the CEO to envision and focus on his plans to build a metaverse.
