Otto Celera 500L Bullet Airplane can revolutionize Aviation as we know it. Just like higher speed of bullet trains, bullet plane can achieve a speed of up to 460 miles/hour.
A bullet shape is famous because of its higher speed. Because a bullet shape allows the object to move through the medium of air without facing turbulence as commercial planes.
The bullet shape allows the air to move around it with ease, burning less fuel and energy during its travel.
“This gets us four to five times the efficiency of other turboprop aircraft, and seven to eight times the efficiency of jet aircraft,” says William Otto Jr., CEO of Otto Aviation.
According to Otto Aviation, flying on the Celera will cost $328 an hour compared to $2,100, with a fuel economy of 18 to 25 miles per gallon.
Otto Celera 500L Bullet Airplane has the capacity to seat 6 passengers. It has a range of 4500 miles with a fantastic speed of 460 miles/hour.
The Celera 500L first test flight happend in 2018. Since then, it has completed nearly 50 test flights.
Top speed of Celera 500L is 180 miles-per-hour. And the maximum altitude reached by it is 17,000 feet.
But after a upgraded engine will be installed, the bullet plane will reach the hight of 40,000 feet and will be able to achieve speed of of 460 miles-per-hour.
It is believed by OTTO that the bullet plane will go on sale by 2025. The airplane is expected to have an initial price tag of $5 million.
The company has plans for 2 larger models that could accommodate up to 19 and 40 passengers respectively, making them competitive with regional jets. Otto says discussions are ongoing with major airlines.
