In the Orakzai tribal district kohat over 60 girls primary schools are operated with one single teacher. As reported by a local education department official.
The official reported that the same teacher was asked to run vaccination drives against measles and rubella.
Furthermore the students have been protesting for the shortage of teachers. But there was no response to the protests, according to the tribesmen.
The tribesmen in Orakzai also reported that a local school had two posts of teachers. It was found that one of them has been absent for the last five years.
Furthermore the tribesmen also revealed that the Chappar mishti Girls primary school was founded in 2010. It had been out of service ever since.
The tribesmen ridiculed local lawmakers and the education department for not taking any interest in ensuring the required number of teachers in schools. They also commented that the poor parents could not afford to send their children to schools in other areas.
