Pakistan Hockey team, on Sunday, made their way into the semi-finals as they managed to beat Bangladesh by 6-2 in the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy.
In their 4th and last game of the group stage, Pakistan was able to beat Bangladesh to claim a spot in the semi-finals by finishing 3rd on the table.
Bangladesh was beaten in their own home ground in Dhaka. The hosts made a brilliant start to the game by taking the lead in the 13th minute, however, Pakistani’s were quick on the response as they managed to equalize in the very next minute, thanks to Nadeem Ahmed.
In the second quarter, Pakistan carried its momentum and bombarded Bangladesh’s defense. Their continuous offensive plays allowed them to score 3 more goals and bring the score to 4-1.
Pakistan registered 2 more goals in the third quarter while Bangladesh was able to score a consolation goal too. The final scoreboard revealed a scoreline of 6-2 in favor of Pakistan.
Nadeem Ahmed and Ijaz Ahmed scored two goals each for Pakistan. Ijaz Ahmed was declared man of the match.
This was Pakistan’s only win in the group stage as they drew games with Japan and South Korea, while they lost against India.
Pakistan is now set to face 2nd placed South Korea in the semi-finals on Tuesday. Whereas, 1st placed India will face Japan who finished 4th in the group.
