ISLAMABAD: Several transportation initiatives have been implemented in Pakistan during the last decade, including Karachi Green Line, the Lahore Orange Line, and Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit as investment in transport plays a vital role in economic growth. The Karachi Circular Railways (KCR) was recently approved in this regard.
On Wednesday, Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan spoke at the Asia and Pacific Transport Forum 2022, organized by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
The event, titled “Accelerating Transformative and Decarbonized Transport,” looked into ways to make the region’s transportation future more sustainable and decarbonized.
The participants spoke about how to speed up the improvements that are needed in the transportation and mobility sectors.
Khan highlighted the need for a well-functioning “transport and communication structure” for a country’s development. “Investment in a country’s infrastructure has a direct impact on economic growth because it allows companies to identify the best markets for their products, reduces transportation time and costs, and creates job possibilities,” he said.
