Shah Masood, Pakistan’s left-handed opener, has been the first Pakistani opener to reach a double century in the English County Championship. While playing for Derbyshire County Cricket Club, he achieved the feat against Sussex.
The left-hander has been in excellent form, putting up outstanding performances in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Masood, who is making his County cricket debut, scored 91 and 62 runs in the opening match. In the championship, this is his only second game.
In the County Championship this season Masood, who is the top run-scorer, was the third-highest run-scorer in the Pakistan Super League 7, scoring 478 runs in 12 innings at a 39.83 average.
Shan last played Test cricket for Pakistan against New Zealand in Christchurch in 2020-21. He was relegated back to the domestic circuit after failing to provide his best.
The opening batter was then called up to the national squad for the Test leg of the series against Australia, but he did not play since Imam-ul-Haq had a fantastic series.
