PESHAWAR: Two talented young Peshawar girls are pursuing a bright sporting career and have a long-held ambition to win medals for Pakistan in Olympic Games competitions.

Husna Awan and Hafsa Awan learned how to make kites from their father years ago while their family was going through a difficult time. The dedicated sisters shared their sporting careers, as well as their difficult life experiences and future ambitions.

The public’s and social media’s attention has lately been drawn to the talented sisters’ performance in the KP Under-21 Games. The two sisters, who have won multiple gold medals, said their father enrolled them at a martial arts academy near their house in the Suhailabad region of Peshawar’s outskirts, where they trained for three years under the supervision of a qualified instructor. The young ladies not only excelled in as many as seven KP Under-21 Games sporting activities, including martial arts, but they also performed well academically.

“There came a period when we both started competing in several KP Under-21 Games events and won multiple gold medals.” My forte is badminton, but I also love martial arts; credit for this goes to my parents, who pushed us both to work hard. “We create about 300 kites a day and make enough money to cover our expenses, but we still need financial help to support our parents because my mother is bedridden and my father is unemployed,” Ms. Awan explained.

“We are determined about competing in the Olympic Games, and it is our ambition to bring medals home to Pakistan.” “Our message to females is that if we can excel in martial arts, academics, and make enough money to cover our expenses, we believe any girl could,” the enthusiastic sisters stated.
