PNS Badar, a MILGEM-class ship built jointly by Pakistan and Turkey, was launched by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Karachi today (Friday).
The Prime Minister added that the relationship between Pakistan and Turkey is reaching new heights and that the two nations would continue to collaborate in a variety of fields.
The PNS Badar, a MILGEM-class corvette, is a sign of growing collaboration between Pakistan and Turkey, he added. He described it as a significant step toward self-sufficiency in the shipbuilding sector.
Pakistan’s links with Turkey, according to Shehbaz Sharif, trace back to pre-independence periods, when Muslims from the Subcontinent began a drive in Turkey to establish a Caliphate.
He also appreciated the Turkish government and its people for their love and assistance through many natural disasters in Pakistan.
The Prime Minister lauded the engineers and staff at the Karachi shipyard for their hard work.
He also praised the Turkish Defense Minister for accompanying his delegation to the event.
On the occasion, the Prime Minister offered a 100 million rupee appreciation to the Karachi Shipyard employees and management.
