The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman, Ramiz Raja, stated that his intentions for accepting the cricket board chairmanship were purely to promote cricket in the country. He went on to say that he has not benefited his friends or relatives in any way through his position.
Ramiz spoke at a National Assembly Standing Committee on Inter-Provincial Coordination meeting, saying, “My only motive for being here is to work for cricket’s promotion. I have not taken my wife on any official tour or benefited any of my relatives.”
At the NA committee meeting, which was presided over by Nawab Sher and attended by PCB Chief Executive Faisal Hasnain and NHPC Director Nadeem Khan, the chairman of the cricket board answered a question regarding his expenses.
He said, “My family didn’t want me to accept PCB chairmanship. They knew PCB chairman gets nothing except being called out every time.”
Appointed as the PCB Chairman in September 2018, Ramiz, who was part of the World Cup-winning team in 1992, has overseen vast improvements in many areas of the national cricket team during his tenure.
Ramiz, who spoke candidly in an interview, went on to say that he has not demanded any benefits or entertainment allowances for his family since becoming chairman, emphasizing that the position comes with zero compensation.
“My salary as PCB chairman is zero. I haven’t taken any unnecessary perks so far as chairman. I haven’t taken an entertainment allowance and spent just 2.5 lac rupees.
