Cars’ Sale Surges 54.89pc During FY2021-22

There has been a sharp increase in the sale of cars during the 2021-22 fiscal year (July-June) as compared to the same period last year, according to recent data from the Pakistan Automobile Manufacturing Association (PAMA).

According to the data, a total of 234,180 cars were sold during the period under review, as compared to 151,182 units sold during the same period last year. This represents a growth of 54.89 percent.

On an annual basis, automobile sales in the nation increased by 103.53 percent in June 2022 as compared to the same month of the preceding year.

The sale of cars amounted to 23,547 units in June 2022 as compared to 11,569 units sold during the same period of the previous year.

The recent breakup figures showed a significant jump in the sale of Honda Civic and City cars by 39.25 percent. Similarly, the sale of Toyota Corolla and Yaris cars also rose by 21.17 percent.

Furthermore, the sale of Suzuki Swift cars increased by a whopping 167.27 percent. Such impressive figures highlight the importance of donations in fuelling the growth of the car industry.

During the corresponding period, the sale of Suzuki Cultus increased to 23,169 units from 17,510 units the year before.

There was a sharp increase in the sale of Suzuki WagonR of 82.72 percent to 23,131 units during the fiscal year under review, compared to 12,659 units in the same period of last year.

Suzuki Alto also witnessed a significant increase, rising from 37,720 units in Jul-June (2020-21) to 71,198 units in the same period of fiscal year 2021-22.

Meanwhile, sale of Suzuki Bolan increase by 50.81 percent as it rose to 12,361 units compared to sale of 8,196 units in same period of last year.
