Arshad Nadeem, a star athlete for Pakistan who represented his country with gold medals in the javelin throw competitions at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya, and the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, has returned home
Arshad Nadeem took a late-night journey from Istanbul to Lahore on a foreign airline. He received a hero’s welcome at the Allama Iqbal airport from a large crowd that had assembled there, including members of his family, friends, supporters, and Pakistan Sports Board officials. Along with him, his admirers danced to the drums.
The star athlete told the media that the prayers of the Pakistani people were the reason he was able to win gold medals. Two medals for Pakistan is an honor, he remarked.
Arshad reiterated his desire that Pakistani athletes receive the same facilities as athletes from other countries. He emphasized that if Pakistani sportsmen are given resources, they may also take home gold in other competitions.
The athlete asked the government to provide an additional Olympic venue.
Before leaving for Pakistan, Arshad posted a photograph of himself with a caption: “By the grace of God, I am going back to my homeland Pakistan.”
