On Tuesday, people celebrate the great singer and Qawwal Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan – Shahenshah of Qawwali‘s 25th death anniversary.
He was the son of musician, vocalist, and Qawwal Fateh Ali Khan and was born in Faisalabad on October 13, 1948. Before switching to singing, he began his career by learning the Tabla.
On August 16, 1997, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan passed away at the young age of 48. In 1987, the Pakistani government awarded him the pride of performance for his outstanding contribution to Pakistani music.
With a total of 125 albums released as of 2001, he currently holds the record for the highest recorded output by a Qawwal artist according to the Guinness Book of World Records.
He was not only popular in Pakistan but also in the world. Despite the fact that he has been dead for 25 years, his legacy shows that he will always be remembered.
Additionally, he received the prestigious UNESCO music prize.
