When a group of friends organized a professional team of stylists to give 250 children and some adults haircuts and distribute hygiene kits to flood victims at a relief camp in Karachi on September 4, what initially began as an idea discussed on a Twitter account came to fulfillment.
One of the organizers, Syed Hussain Mujtaba Rizvi, tweeted about the event on Monday. “Haircuts for approximately 250 children and the distribution of hygiene packs to flood victims. Here are the joyful faces of these gorgeous children, who were traumatized after experiencing the horrible event of flooding. Although I had a long day, I couldn’t convey how grateful I felt.
He shared a video that showed an overview of people getting haircuts who had been affected by the flood. Additionally, the team members were introduced, demonstrating that the hygiene kits came with standard items like shampoo, soap, a toothbrush, toothpaste, and a pocket comb.
All the individuals involved in carrying out the plan were identified by Rizvi. “I grabbed the chance to give back to society yesterday by carrying out an action inspired by a suggestion made by Mujahid Sehwani and Ali Khuwaja. With the assistance of Mr. Malik Shakir and Muhammad Fahad Anwar, the plan was carried out.
He disclosed that the four barbers operating there, Shakir leading the way, were highly skilled workers from Malik’s Grooming Saloon. He added that before they implemented the plan, the concept was discussed on a Twitter area. Anwar was providing moral support for Rizvi as he oversaw the entire procedure. Sehwani put together the hygiene kits.
Though the flood victims had shelter and water here, Rizvi made a valid point by stating that there hasn’t been a focus on their hygiene. The donations are also going to Balochistan and inside Sindh, so nobody is thinking much about the ones that have already reached here. He added that additional effort should be made for people living in relief camps.
