On Tuesday, Iranian Ambassador Mohammad Ali Hosseini reaffirmed the assistance of his country for the completion of the Iran-Pakistan (IP) Gas Pipeline project and made a suggestion that collaboration may be expanded to other areas of shared interest.

Iran, according to Ambassador Hosseini, is ready to expand bilateral commercial cooperation, complete energy projects, particularly the IP gas pipeline, advance the development of border markets, finalize a free trade agreement, and work together on important ports and security issues.

According to him, Iran’s gas exports are not subject to sanctions, therefore Pakistan may fully utilize this resource to meet its energy demands. In that context, the IP gas pipeline was an important undertaking, and both nations recognized its significance.

The technical committee was discussing the gas pipeline project, he said, adding that its completion would also offer up new opportunities for bilateral collaboration between the two nations.

According to the ambassador, Iran now exports 100 megawatts of electricity to Pakistan to suit the demands of its bordering regions, and this amount will rise in the future.

He said that construction was also ongoing on a another scheme to provide Pakistan with power. In that way, the two nations had already made some progress.

The industrial zones, in particular, present prospects for investors from both countries, according to Ambassador Hosseini.

The North-South and East-West lanes, he added, would not only link Pakistan to Iran but also boost the former’s commercial and economic integration with Central Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Russia. He also emphasized the roles played by both nations in regional economic and trade integration.

He claimed that the two nations were working together to increase their bilateral commerce to $5 billion.

He claimed that Pakistan and Iran were both geographically significant nations and that cooperation between the two was crucial to advancing their geoeconomic goals.

The ambassador claimed that the two nations could figure out methods to cooperate financially and trade. He stated that there was a chance that a financial channel would open soon.

He claimed that barter trade might be encouraged between the two nations since “we have the precedent of mutual trade in grains and meat.”

The young generation, according to the ambassador, should be active in the promotion of e-commerce trade between the two nations.

In a similar manner, he asserted that collaboration between the business groups and chambers of both countries will promote friendly relations on both sides.
