Strom Ellen to Track over Ireland on Wednesday Night and tomorrow, warning issued. Storm Ellen will bring strong gust winds and heavy rain showers which might lead to flooding. However, as per Met Eireann, the conditions will be severe.
Due to the combination of storm surge, spring tides, and onshore winds, there is a potential risk of coastal flooding.
Met Eireann warns Irish People
Storm Ellen will cause severe damage if the precautions are not met, and Met Eireann has issued a set of warnings. The Status Orange warning is the wind warning for some specific cities, Galway, Cork, Clare, Mayo, Kerry, Limerick, and Waterford. The wind warning will be applicable from 9 pm Tonight until 12 pm Thursday (Irish Standard Time).
The second warning is a status yellow warning, this is not specific for some areas or cities, rather it’s for all the Ireland. The warning is to be intiated with a 26 Hour pattern from Wednesday at 9pm until 23:59 on Thursday (Irish Standard Time).
Met Eireann warns: “It will become very windy on Wednesday night and throughout the day on Thursday. Severe gusts are likely and there is a risk of some disruption”. The Strom eventually breaks the Status Red Wind Warning (an extremely severe warning) for the city of Cork in Ireland. Storm Ellen has been called as the remnants of Hurricane Kyle as it is yet to hit the coastal waters of Ireland, it will hit Cork later tonight.
