According to a report titled “Overview of Pakistan’s Power Sector and its Future Outlook” published by the China Three Gorges South Asia Investment Ltd (CSAIL), 27 projects totaling $19 billion have so far been completed under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and 63 more with investments totaling $35.2 billion are expected to be finished by 2030.
The report states that 27 projects, totaling $7.7 billion in investment, are in the implementation phase and will be finished by 2025. With an estimated $27.5 billion investment, 36 additional projects are planned for completion by 2030.
According to specifics, in the energy sector, 11 projects totaling $12 billion in investment have already been completed. Four additional projects totaling $6 billion are now in the implementation phase and are anticipated to be finished by 2025.
Similar to that, seven other $7.4 billion projects are planned for completion by 2030.
According to the research, seven infrastructure projects totaling $6.7 billion in investment have already been completed. Six additional projects totaling $0.9 billion will be finished by 2025, and 12 projects totaling $10.4 billion are anticipated to be finished by 2030.
Similar projects totaling $200 million have already been finished in Gwadar. Additionally, two projects totaling $230 million will be finished by 2025, and two additional projects, totaling $150 million, will be finished by 2030.
According to the CSAIL research, four of the nine identified Special Economic Zones (SEZs) would be finished by 2025 with an expenditure of $500 million, while the remaining five SEZs would be finished by 2030 with an investment of $1 billion.
Additionally, six socioeconomic initiatives totaling $10 million in investment have already been finished. Eleven additional projects totaling $90 million will be finished by 2025, and ten additional projects totaling $900 million will be completed by 2030.
The report described industrial cooperation, agriculture, science and technology and information technology as newly added sectors under the mega CPEC project that are at the planning stage for third-party participation.
