Another flight steward of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has managed to slip away in Toronto, Canada.
According to PIA officials, Aijaz Ali Shah was a flight attendant on flight PK-781 from Islamabad to Toronto. They said that Shah wasn’t on the crew for the airplane’s return to Pakistan. The steward’s colleagues found out about his plot when he failed to show up for work on a trip back to the South Asian country on October 16.
In the meantime, the airline management and Canadian immigration authorities were made aware of the situation. The management of the national flag carrier will also take disciplinary action against him.
To avert such cases, crew members submitted their passports to airline management upon arrival in foreign countries; they also sign an indemnity bond and one of their relatives submits an undertaking that they will not escape.
