Rana Tanveer Hussain, minister of federal education and professional training, has halted Islamabad’s public universities and colleges from charging students Rs. 1,500 per month to ride their buses.
He instructed the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) to promptly revoke the order in question.
Parents who were struggling with inflation complained about the development, and educators were concerned that the dropout rate would rise.
The FDE quickly ordered all local educational institutions to stop charging students for bus transportation.
The Islamabad model colleges’ College Management Committee had previously announced that they would be collecting Rs 1,500 from each student who rides an official bus each month.
It issued an official notification and warned the students that they will not be allowed to travel by school and college buses if they fail to pay the fixed charges on time.
