After a ten-year break, Canada has announced that it will reopen its visa office in Pakistan. Due to the unstable security environment at the time, Canada relocated its visa office from Pakistan to Abu Dhabi.
The Canadian government has set aside a sizeable quantity of money to build its visa office in Islamabad. The decision coincides with a rise in visa requests from Pakistan for Canada.
Since there are thousands of Pakistanis residing in Canada and many of their relatives are having trouble getting Canadian visas, Pakistan has long urged Canada to rethink its plan to relocate its immigration facility to Abu Dhabi.
As other countries have done after an improvement in security conditions in Pakistan, the High Commissioner of Pakistan to Canada has asked that the Canadian government return the visa facility to Pakistan in 2019.
Due to insufficient security, the Canadian government made the decision to close its immigration station in Pakistan roughly ten years ago. Instead, it built two brand-new facilities in Abu Dhabi and the UK.
Pakistanis needed to apply for their visas in the UK or Abu Dhabi before they could come to Canada. However, as security situations improved, numerous countries resumed issuing visas in Pakistan, pushing Canada to rethink its choice.
