The United Arab Emirates denied on Monday strongly denied reports of not providing visas to Pakistani citizens belonging to certain cities, terming it as “fake news”.
The statement was made by the Consulate General of the UAE Karachi Bakheet Ateeq Al Remeithi. Remeithi said that no such ban has been imposed by the UAE government.
According to misinformation, the Gulf country is refusing to issue visas to citizens of some Pakistani cities, including Abbottabad, Attock, Bajaur Agency, Chakwal, Dera Ghazi Khan, Dera Ismail Khan, Hangu, Hunza, Quetta, Kasur, Kohat, Kotli, Khushab, Khurrum Agency, Larkana, Mohmand Agency, Muzaffargarh, Nawabshah, Para.
The poster warned people to not apply if they belong to any of the aforementioned cities.
It added, “Your visa will be refused and the money is non-refundable.”Remeithi expressed his regret over the reports, noting that Pakistani citizens could apply for a visit visa or any other UAE visa and that they would be given visas.
He claimed that in addition to the embassies in Islamabad and Lahore, he personally issues visas from the Karachi consulate to people who were born in or reside in these cities.
The consulate general also said that rumors like this are spread from time to time.
