According to the military’s media wing, Chief of Army Staff Gen. Asim Munir visited Saudi Arabia on Wednesday.
From January 4 to January 10, according to ISPR, Gen. Asim will be visiting Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on official business. He will meet with the senior leaders of the two friendly nations to address issues of shared concern, military-to-military cooperation, and bilateral relations with an emphasis on security-related issues.
Early on Thursday, Saudi Press Agency also released an update regarding Gen Asim’s arrival to the Kingdom. General Asim met with Prince Khalid bin Salman, the Saudi Arabian Defense Minister, in Riyadh, according to a statement from SPA.
Prince Khalid bin Salman Al Saud shared a tweet: “Pleased to meet H.E General Asim Munir, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff. We emphasized the strategic partnership between our brotherly countries, reviewed the bilateral military and defense relations, and discussed ways of strengthening our cooperation”.
Gen. Asim was also congratulated by him on his appointment as Chief of Army Staff.
According to reports, the meeting covered bilateral ties as well as strategies for enhancing defense and military cooperation. The meeting was attended by a number of Saudi and Pakistani military and civil authorities.
