The world’s largest commercial passenger aircraft Airbus A380 will return to Glasgow Airport this spring for its popular daily Glasgow-Dubai route.

The flight will restart on March 26 due to increased demand for the route. Since September 2019, the aircraft hasn’t operated the route, but the company is committed to restoring the craft’s full capability and expanding the routes continuing the future.

The A380 stands almost 24 meters tall and has wings that span about 80 meters. The aircraft has an onboard lounge, a first-class shower facility, and the largest displays in the business throughout all cabins, providing access to more than 5,000 channels of on-demand entertainment.

The airplane will be welcomed at Glasgow Airport for the third time when it lands there in March. More than 5.5 million passengers have traveled on the route since it started in April 2004 over the airline’s entire global network. To mark the route’s tenth anniversary, it made its maiden stop in Glasgow on April 10, 2014. In addition to Glasgow, the double-decker would begin service on July 1 from Birmingham.

Glasgow and the west of Scotland will certainly benefit from Emirates’ plan to reintroduce the A380, according to Matt Hazelwood, chief commercial officer at AGS Airports Ltd, the company that owns Glasgow Airport.

‘Each time this iconic aircraft comes to Glasgow it is a significant moment for Scotland’s aviation industry, but this announcement is particularly special and a real endorsement from Emirates as we continue to rebuild the vital connectivity that is so important to the region,’ he said.
