Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday dismissed a railway employee’s plea for an increment of Rs 75 in his basic salary.
According to details, the case was heard by a three-judge panel headed by the top justice of the supreme court.
The court declared the case to be concluded and dismissed it.
According to the Chief Justice (CJ), the railway worker named Ghayas was challenged by the tribunal in 2017, which was five years after his retirement.
He said to the petitioner’s lawyer, “According to you, the employee’s basic income should have been increased by Rs. 75 in 1983, but the railway employee was only thinking about it for 20–25 years.”
Due to the plea’s expiration before both the tribunal and the highest court, the Supreme Court dismissed it.
Railway Employees Announce Strike Over Non-Payment Of Salaries
The Clerical Staff Association of Pakistan Railways had already called for a strike over the department’s delay in paying employees’ salaries, and the country’s severe flooding had forced a 13-day suspension of train service.
As a result, the department did not pay any of the Karachi division employees’ salaries for August. After the delay in salary payments, workers also staged a protest outside the divisional accounts offices.
