On Wednesday, Islamabad hosted the 8th meeting of the Pakistan-Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation.
This three-day meeting’s objectives were to evaluate the current areas of cooperation and identify fresh chances to strengthen the bilateral ties between the two nations.
Pakistan is being represented by the Secretary Economic Affairs Division Kazim Niaz and the Russian side by the Deputy Director of Economic Affairs.
Dr. Kazim Niaz, Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, stated during the opening session that there was a tremendous opportunity to profit from Pakistan and Russia’s comparative advantages.
He claimed that Pakistan was severely affected by the terrible floods and expressed gratitude for the assistance provided by the world community in such dire situations.
The secretary declared that improving economic, trade, and investment connections was Pakistan’s top objective.
Speaking at the event, Israfil Ali-Zade, Deputy Director of the Department of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, emphasised the importance of Pakistan to Russia.
According to him, there was strong cooperation in all economic sectors, and Russia wanted to make it even better.
He claimed that there was enormous potential between the two economies that needed to be further investigated.
