All Karachi Restaurants Association (AKRA) rejected the government’s energy conservation plan which suggested the closure of all restaurants at 10 pm.
Faizan Rawat, the general secretary of AKRA, demanded that the province government reassess its energy conservation plan and prolong the restaurant’s hours until midnight.
He pledged that the group will fulfill its obligation to assist the government during this difficult time.
It is important to note that Commissioner Karachi Muhammad Iqbal Memon recently issued new directives mandating the metropolis’ market and restaurant closing times of 8:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., respectively.
The news comes a day after the federal government handed the Sindh government instructions to implement the energy-saving plan, according to which all marketplaces must close at 8:30 p.m.
In a letter to Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, the Ministry of Interprovincial Coordination pleaded with him to see to it that an energy conservation strategy was carried out throughout the province.
The Karachi commissioner has instructed the relevant authorities to ensure that marketplaces and shopping malls close by 8:30 pm in a letter written to all deputy commissioners.
