Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed his strong condemnation of the violence committed by workers of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) against journalists in Lahore. He also assured the public that the government will take all necessary measures to ensure the safety and protection of journalists.

In a statement, the Prime Minister emphasized that freedom of expression is a hallmark of civilized societies, and should be respected and upheld at all times.

Shehbaz Sharif went on to criticize PTI Chief Imran Khan, accusing him of spreading intolerance and chaos among the youth, and using violence against anyone who questions him. He also highlighted that incidents of cruelty against journalists were common during Imran Khan’s government.

The Prime Minister extended his admiration and gratitude to all journalists who have bravely reported the truth despite facing numerous challenges. He acknowledged that the whole nation stands in solidarity with the victims of the recent attack in Lahore.

Similarly, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb also condemned the attack on media personnel by PTI workers. In a tweet, she accused the PTI of having a history of violence, including imprisoning media personnel, physically harming them, and even kidnapping and shooting them. She also criticized the party for continuing its legacy of violence even after being ousted from power.
