Iran has expressed its interest to initiate more projects on electricity in Pakistan as Energy Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan met their Iranian counterpart Ali Akbar Mehrabian in Tehran.
According to a statement issued by the ministry, mutual areas of interest were discussed during the meeting.
The Iranian Minister thanked the Pakistani authorities for rapidly constructing the transmission line needed to import electricity from Iran to Gwadar.
Also, he stated a desire to start more electricity-related initiatives with Pakistan. Khurram Dastgir expressed gratitude to his colleague for expanding their partnership in the energy sector.
Energy Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan arrived in Iran the day before to meet with Iranian officials to discuss the Pak-Iran Power Project’s development. Pakistan will import 100 Megawatts of electricity under the Pak-Iran Power Project.
The power line for the Pakistan-Iran electricity project was under construction and will be finished quickly.
