Islamabad Police reach Lahore in a helicopter to arrest Imran Khan. He will be taken into custody and flown in a helicopter to the city of Lahore, where he will be held in a special police facility until the investigation is completed.
He gears up to spearhead a massive election rally in a show of power with thousands of workers waiting for him to come out of his Zaman Park house. Police have been investigating the PTI chairman for some time, but the arrest came after an investigation was launched into suspected misuse of public funds by some of Imran Khan’s close aides.
The Pakistani government has remained tight-lipped on the arrest and has yet to comment on the matter. It remains to be seen what will happen to Imran Khan.
A district and session court restored on Monday Pakistan Tehreek -e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan s non-bailable arrest warrant in the Toshakhana case the member of Khan’s legal team Naeem Haider Panjutha said a petition has been filed for exemption from attendance on behalf of the former prime minister on security grounds.
During the hearing a lawyer for the PTI Chief ( Intezar Haider Panjutha said it is not safe for 71 years old politicians to come to Islamabad they have filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) asking permission to appear before the court.
The lawyer also requested to accept Imran’s plea, but the court rejected it by saying this “If Imran did not appear in court today a non-bailed arrest warrant against him would be issued.
The court has been registered against the PTI Chair at Islamabad Margalla Police Station for hurling threatening remarks at judge Zeba Chaudhry. After that, the court briefly adjourned the hearing till 12:30 pm and later resumed it.
