US Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blome wished for an agreement between Pakistan and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) that would ensure Washington’s willingness to support the country to resume a suspended $6.5 billion bailout program.

Ambassador Blome said that the International Monetary Funds bailout package for Islamabad would be finalized within days. He also said while speaking to reporters at an event on Tuesday “the United States stands ready to work with Pakistan to assist in this matter.

Blome, who visited major Pakistani cities to meet the criteria there has been progressing in politic relations between the two states.

Washington’s willingness to help Islamabad to face the challenge of terrorism convey by the envoy.

Dar reportedly contacted the US envoy earlier this week to get “lenient treatment” from the fund, which has persistently met its demands After failing to convince creditors.

The IMF and Islamabad have been negotiating a stalled rescue package since late last year, with the country seeking a $1.1 billion tranche to address a worsening balance of payments to provide aid to overcome the crisis of financial problems.

Pakistan and the IMF are in talks to reach a mutually acceptable package to help the cash-strapped country to resolve their economic disorder.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said that Pakistan will conclude a Staff Level Agreement (SLA) with the IMF within days as in the last week’s conversation.

the government remains committed to completing the loan program which is signed in 2019.
