During the holy month of Ramadan, especially at Iftar and Sehri, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed officials to ensure a continuous supply of gas to the people.

The Sui Southern Gas Corporation (SSGC), citing the rising imbalance between gas supply and demand, stated on Thursday that it will suspend deliveries to captive power plants and industries. The prime minister’s instructions follow this announcement.

On Thursday, PM Shehbaz presided over a meeting where he received a thorough briefing on the problem of low pressure, interruption, and load shedding of gas in Karachi. Since the meeting addressed the issues of Karachi’s residents, the issue of gas load shedding in Karachi was handled at the Prime Minister’s request.

The problem of gas load shedding brought up in Parliament a few days ago was strictly noted by PM Shehbaz. Addressing Parliament, PM Shehbaz gave the members of the National Assembly assurance that his government would solve the issue of gas load-shedding, particularly during sehr and iftar, since people have been complaining about it due to rising prices.

He urged the adoption of a thorough plan to ensure that residents’ gas supply runs without interruption during Ramadan.

To stop the gas load shedding, authorities took emergency action. The Prime Minister emphasized the requirement for a closely monitored petrol supply procedure with no room for error. The Sui Southern Gas Corporation (SSGC) on Thursday announced its decision to halt supplies to captive power plants and businesses due to the expanding imbalance between gas supply and demand.

According to the gas utility, the decision was made in light of the limited gas supply. It claimed that the volume of petrol in pipelines had fallen as a result of a decrease in supply.
