Shehroze Kashif of Pakistan has successfully summited the world’s tenth highest peak, Annapurna in Nepal, which stands at 8,091 metres, at 6:31 a.m. PST today (17th April 2023). At the age of 20, he is the youngest person in the world to have climbed 11 peaks exceeding 8000 metres.
It is an incredible accomplishment that he is standing tall on the world’s 10th tallest mountain only 6 months after having spine surgery.
Shehroze had stated his high ambition of being the world’s youngest climber to summit all 14 peaks above 8,000 metres when he left Lahore for this expedition earlier in March. After Annapurna, he has summited 11 summits and needs just three more (Dhaulagiri, Shishipangma, and Choyou) to become the youngest climber to summit all 14 8000-meter peaks.
Mr Kashif Salman, Shehroze’s father and ardent supporter, stated, “I always say Shehroze is a gifted human, and Allah has blessed him with powers so that he can do extraordinary things.”
“At one point it seemed that his carrier was over,” Shehroze’s father remarked, “but how he overcame the obstacles and challenges he faced after being with a dislocated backbone is amazing.” It sends a strong message that it isn’t over until it is.”
Earlier, Shehroze’s mother, who was also at the airport to see him off and was obviously emotional, said that when I urged him to return home during his K2 Summit, he answered, “You don’t miss home?” He would show me the mountains and say, “This is my home, Mom.” She wished her son the best and stated that he will make Pakistan proud.
The 14 peaks, commonly known as the Eight-thousanders, are a group of mountains that rise higher than 8,000 metres (26,247 feet). Only a few climbers have successfully summited all of these mountains, which are regarded as the most difficult and dangerous in the world.
Shehroze’s determination, enthusiasm, and expertise have inspired aspiring mountaineers all around the world. He believes that with hard effort and determination, everyone, no matter how big or small, may realise their dreams.
The ace climber sai shared his experience on his task. “I am adamant about achieving this goal and bringing honour to my country.” “I want to encourage young people to pursue their dreams and passions, no matter how difficult they appear to be.”
Shehroze’s world-record ascent will draw international attention to Pakistan while also highlighting the country’s natural beauty and different landscapes. His achievement will motivate a new generation of mountaineers and adventurers to scale the world’s highest peaks.
Shehroze is also doing a fundraising campaign on GoFundMe for his expedition. http://bit.ly/3lHoSAd
