The region around the Sikh sacred site of the Golden Temple in India’s Amritsar City was rocked by a second blast in 36 hours on Monday, according to authorities.
According to authorities, there were no casualties or property damage recorded in the incident, and police are investigating the possible cause.
The late Saturday night blast, which police said was still under investigation, injured at least one person in the northern metropolis of the Sikh-majority Punjab province.
The Golden Temple, a shining building in the middle of a vast artificial pond, is revered by Sikhs all over the world.
However, it has previously been the site of conflict, most notably when Indian special forces assaulted it in 1984 to remove Sikh warriors.
According to devotees, officials arrived shortly after the early morning blast on Monday, when hundreds of people would have been at the temple, to collect forensic samples.
