Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has called upon its supporters to gather in the federal capital after its chairman’s bail from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) in the Al-Qadir Trust case.
The PTI has expressed that they are certain about their chairman’s bail, and after his appearance before the high court today, former prime minister Imran Khan is scheduled to make an address to his supporters.
The PTI tweeted on its official handle that thousands of peaceful Pakistanis from across the country will gather at Srinagar Highway G-13 Islamabad this morning to show solidarity with Imran Khan. They also stated that Chairman Imran Khan would address his supporters after appearing in the Islamabad High Court.
Today, Khan is scheduled to appear before the IHC for a hearing related to the Al-Qadir Trust case, which led to his arrest by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and violent protests across the country.
Yesterday, the Supreme Court declared Khan’s arrest on the IHC premises on May 9 as “illegal” and ordered the authorities to release him immediately.
However, the court sent him to the Police Lines Guest House and instructed him to present himself before the IHC at 11:00 am today. Additionally, the Supreme Court set the precedent that no person should be arrested within the premises of a court.
Following Khan’s release from NAB’s remand, supporters of the PTI took to the streets to celebrate the court’s decision. Usman Dar, the ex-special assistant to the prime minister on youth affairs, called on the party supporters to express solidarity and gratitude to the top court.
The PTI leader tweeted that all Pakistanis, wherever they are, should come out to express solidarity and gratitude to the Supreme Court in their respective areas.
