Despite his blindness, Mohammad Rashid, who lives in the Malir district, has been repairing sewing machines in the Malir Liaquat market for the past 30 years, and people are impressed by his ability.
Mohammad Rashid stated in an exclusive interview with a news programme that he was not born blind but lost his vision owing to a childhood ailment. His parents could not afford to treat him adequately because he came from a middle-class family.
Muhammad Rashid’s father has always repaired sewing machines and has taught his son how to do so. Muhammad Rashid encountered numerous difficulties with this task at first, and his hands were occasionally terribly damaged. But he never gave up, and today he is a true expert in his field.
Mohammad Rashid stated that he can easily fix any sort of sewing machine; individuals from distant cities also bring sewing machines to him for repair, and now that the internet has arrived, some people do it by bike as they ship sewing machines.
