Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is headed to France on official business to attend the New Global Financing Pact Summit, which will be place in Paris on June 22-23, 2023.
According to the Foreign Office, the premier will be visiting the European country at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron.
According to the statement, the Summit provides a chance for leaders to debate the contours of a new global architecture capable of solving the problems of financing sustainable development, the environment, energy transition, and the climate change agenda.
The summit aims to define the principles and steps required for a comprehensive reform of the international financial system, as well as pave the way for a more balanced and fair partnership between the North and the South, in the run-up to other important international events and conferences over the next two years.
Pakistan will contribute to the summit debate as a significant global stakeholder, a leader in the G-77 and China, and one of the largest developing countries most affected by climate change. The Prime Minister will give Pakistan’s viewpoint and ideas for reforming International Financial Institutions, climate funding, green infrastructure, achieving the SDGs, and debt solutions.
On the sidelines of the conference, the prime minister will hold bilateral discussions with other international leaders.
