Microsoft and LinkedIn have taken major steps to meet today’s job market’s increasing demand for AI skills. Microsoft’s AI Skills Initiative provides free courses through LinkedIn Learning to empower individuals with the knowledge and tools they need to use AI technology responsibly and ethically.
Course Details
A complete course developed in conjunction with LinkedIn is part of the AI Skills Initiative. The course covers a variety of topics related to AI, such as an introduction to AI, responsible AI practices, and the concept of generative AI. It is presently only available in English, but other languages are on the way. Participants who complete the course will receive a professional credential in generative AI from Microsoft, which they can post on their LinkedIn accounts.
Microsoft also provides a trainer toolkit with AI content for instructors, as well as a free AI skills challenge on Microsoft Learn. The challenge focuses on teaching fundamental AI skills through the use of Microsoft technologies.
Course Breakdown
The course consists of five instructional films with a total duration of about four hours. The following subjects are covered in the videos:
- introduction to Artificial Intelligence
- Understanding Generative AI
- Generative AI and its Evolution in Online Search
- Enhancing Work Efficiency with Microsoft Bing Chat
- Ethical Considerations in the Age of Generative AI
Certification Process
Participants must watch all of the videos in the course to get a professional certificate. The exam is only available when you have completed all of the training. Participants who pass the exam will receive immediate access to their certificate, which they may then add to their LinkedIn profiles and share with their professional network.
The AI Capabilities Initiative was created in response to the pressing need for AI capabilities identified by businesses. The World Economic Forum ranks AI skills as the third highest priority for corporate training programmes. According to Microsoft’s research, while many people want AI to handle more of their tasks, 49% are concerned that AI will replace their jobs. This project intends to assist workers in gaining the knowledge and experience required to properly exploit AI technologies.
Building on Success
Microsoft’s Skills for Jobs programme has already assisted millions of people around the world in transitioning into new occupations in high-demand industries like cybersecurity. The AI Skills Initiative is the next step in this continuing effort, bringing more innovation and collaboration to the forefront.
