Cevdet Ylmaz, Vice President of Turkiye, arrived in Pakistan to witness the launching ceremony of PNS TARIQ, the fourth ship of the Pakistan MLGEM Project, at Karachi Shipyard, alongside Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
According to a source, The jet carrying Turkey’s vice president and vice defense minister landed at Karachi International Airport.
According to Turkish media, the PN MLGEM ships are cutting-edge corvettes manufactured in both Turkey and Pakistan for the Pakistan Navy. They are very reliable and capable of deterrence due to their long-range effective sensor and weapon systems, low radar cross-sectional area, and low acoustic signature.
In September 2018, a contract for the sale of four PN MLGEM corvettes to the Pakistan Navy was inked. It was the greatest export project in Turkey’s defence sector at the time.
Vice President Ylmaz will also meet with Prime Minister Sharif and other Pakistani authorities during his visit. He will address strategies to deepen Turkey’s strategic partnership with Pakistan.
The visit demonstrates the two countries’ strong and expanding connections. It also demonstrates the success of the PN MLGEM Project, which has contributed to improve the Pakistan Navy’s maritime capabilities.
