Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, the caretaker prime minister, started consultations for the appointment of the interim cabinet.

According to the sources, the temporary PM has chosen to assemble a small cabinet and personally study the biographies of all potential candidates.

“I don’t want to add to the country’s economic problems,” the interim prime minister told his friends, according to reports.

PM Kakar also expressed his desire to keep his protocol to a minimum, stating that he did not want to pay excessive money or cause people to suffer.

Former foreign secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani, former civil servant Shoaib Suddle, former Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) president Ahsan Bhoon, former senator Sarfaraz Ahmed Bugti, and former police IG and acclaimed columnist Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema are among those being considered as caretaker ministers, according to sources.

Furthermore, former information minister Muhammad Ali Durrani is expected to be granted the role of the Ministry of Information, according to reports.

A day earlier, Kakar, a former senator, and head of the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), was sworn in as Pakistan’s seventh caretaker prime minister to oversee the country until the country’s general elections in a few months.

According to sources, the interim PM has retained Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister (PSPM) Dr. Syed Tauqir Hussain Shah, former advisor to the PM Ahad Cheema, and joint Secretary Mohib Ali.

Meanwhile, sources said Arshad Muneer Khan, who was promoted to grade 21, will be assigned as principal information officer (PIO).

Brigadier Tajdeed Mumtaz, Prime Minister’s Military Secretary (MS), will also continue in his existing administrative position.

According to insiders, deliberations for the caretaker federal cabinet will begin today, with an announcement possible later this week.
