In 2010, the US Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) launched the Global Undergraduate Exchange Programme – Pakistan (Global UGRAD-Pakistan). The International Research & Exchanges Board (IREX) in the United States and the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) in Pakistan are in charge of implementing the programme.
The Global UGRAD programme recognises Pakistani undergraduate students studying at a Pakistani university. The Global UGRAD-Pakistan programme promotes cultural and intellectual interaction through a non-degree programme for a semester at a university in the United States.
Applicants must be in their 14th or 15th year of formal education to be eligible for this programme. Candidates must be enrolled in a four-year or two-year bachelor’s degree programme.
Tentative announcement: September/October
Grantees start their studies in the autumn of the following year.
Eligibility Criteria
- Pakistani Citizens
- 25 years of age or younger
- Currently enrolled in a college or university and committed to returning to their home universities after the programme is over.
- Applicants in their 14th or 15th year of formal school must include current/most recent transcripts as well as old transcripts with their application.
Ineligibility
- Dual U.S./Pakistani nationals or U.S. permanent residents
- Employees of the Fulbright organization, the U.S. Department of State, or USAID and their spouses, children, fiancés, siblings, dependents, and parents
- Students in their first or final year of university

How to Apply
The Global UGRAD-Pakistan programme is announced every year around September/October. The application form must be submitted online. Any supporting documents, such as transcript photocopies and an explanation of the grading method used by the university giving the degree, must be attached before completing the online application.
