Pakistan Welcomes South African Cricket Team

Pakistan welcomed the South African Cricket Team after 14 years in Karachi to play two Tests and three Twenty20 internationals on their first tour. Quinton de Kock, wicketkeeper-batsman, the the team lead was hoisted from the airport under state-head level security accorded by the hosts, the Pakistan Cricket Board.

Before their departure from Johannesburg the 21 member South African team had gone through two Covid-19 tests which all came back negative, and further tests will be conducted in Pakistan as well to ensure the safety of the players and the country.

Strict Covid’19 control measures are being taken as the squad will stay in individual isolation until the results of the first round of testing are released before they start training in a ground adjacent to their hotel the official mentioned. 

The team will start practice training at Karachi’s National Stadium, After the end of the quarantine period, according to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Back in march 2009 the international cricket was suspended due to a terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team bus in Lahore. Before the revival of test cricket pakistan has eventually started hosting teams again in the last five years
