In Islamabad using a plastic bag can land you a fine of 5000. The Ministry of Climate Change had decided to take strict action on the use of plastic bags in the city. The ministry has started an awareness campaign about the usage of plastic bags. According to Ajmal Baloch, the president of All Pakistan Anjuman Tajran, the problem is that Islamabad has banned plastic bags yet Rawalpindi’s hasn’t. At times plastic bags come to us from Rawalpindi.

Citizens found utilizing plastic bags will be fined Rs5,000, while shopkeepers and manufacturers 10,000. A fine of Rs20,000 will be forced on the people who keep on reusing plastic bags. The bags will be seized as well.

Plastic bags have been banned in the capital since August 14, 2019 as a feature of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Clean Green Pakistan movement. It is unlawful to make, sell and circulate plastic bags in the city as the ordinary plastic bag doesn’t get degraded and remains for quite a long time, making contamination and wellbeing hazards. Now ban to be reinforced in the city starting March.
